"X" Baskets
Click for Larger Image
Also known as a rim-handled Basket, The frame of this basket is made by crossing two round or oval hoops--thus the name, "X" basket. This is an exceptionally strong basket because the hoops support a large part of the framework. By altering the angle of the "X" during construction, it is possible to get many different shapes and sizes. The handles are part of the frame, so one person can easily carry the larger version, or two people can carry it between them. A smaller version makes a nice fruit or bread basket; the medium size is good for yarns or sewing projects; the larger sizes are convenient for wood or magazines.
